Seed Health Testing Workshop Now Offers Digital Badges and CEUs

AMES, Iowa – Professionals in the seed industry will now have the opportunity to earn digital microcredential badges and continuing education units (CEUs) through Iowa State University’s upcoming Seed Health Testing Workshop (October 7–9, 2025).

Digital badges provide participants with a verifiable way to showcase newly acquired skills, while CEUs support professional accreditation and career advancement through recognized industry associations.

“Digital badges and CEUs add even more value to our workshops by formally recognizing the competencies participants develop,” said Dr. Gary Munkvold, Director of Education for the Online Graduate Program in Seed Technology and Business (STB), which is sponsoring the event. “These credentials not only highlight expertise in seed health testing but also help professionals demonstrate their commitment to continued learning.”

Seed Health Testing Workshop

Co-hosted by the National Seed Health System (NSHS) and the STB Graduate Program, this three-day, hands-on program focuses on seedborne bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

  • Digital Badges: Participants can earn three foundational badges (Bacterial, Fungal, and Viral Pathogen Detection). Those who also complete a reflection can achieve the advanced Seedborne Pathogen Detection badge.
  • CEUs: Participants are eligible for 4.5 CEUs through the Association of Official Seed Analysts (AOSA) and the Society of Commercial Seed Technologists (SCST).

Why It Matters

By pairing hands-on training with credentials, both workshops help participants:

  • Showcase verified skills with digital badges that can be shared on résumés, email signatures, and LinkedIn.
  • Maintain professional certifications through CEUs recognized by leading seed and agronomy organizations.
  • Strengthen technical expertise while connecting with industry experts and peers.

Digital badges are included in the cost of registration and available as an opt-in credential, ensuring participants can document their learning at no extra charge.

Register today to secure your place in one or both programs, and take advantage of this opportunity to build expertise, earn recognized credentials, and advance your career in the seed industry. More information and register online: www.seedhealth.org/events
