Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. or other professional degree and related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in plant pathology or closely related field
- Experience with quality management systems
- Seed industry work experience
- Experience with laboratory seed health testing methods
Job Description:
The Seed Science Center at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Program Coordinator III position. The Program Coordinator for the National Seed Health System (NSHS) Administration Unit (AU) at the Iowa State University Seed Science Center will manage the day-to-day activity of maintaining, improving, and promoting the accreditation and seed testing method approval processes of the NSHS AU. The Program Coordinator will also support ISU’s ongoing collaboration with USDA-APHIS during the roll-out of the new phytosanitary regulatory program for seeds (ReFreSH). The position includes active interaction with seed industry and government personnel working toward the common goal of safe, efficient international movement of seeds.
Responsibilities include overseeing the accreditation application process, managing the accreditation audit and proficiency testing programs, and carrying out development and validation studies for seed health testing methods. The Program Coordinator also will be responsible for the development and maintenance of NSHS Reference Manuals and conducting outreach to promote and support participation in NSHS and ReFreSH.
This is a fixed term position with opportunity for renewal, all accrued vacation must be used during term of appointment or will be forfeited.
